What is a Professional Hustler

Hustling is a way of life. It’s the confidence that I am skilled and resourceful enough to make money when I need it. I am willing to do almost anything to make money.

I live my life free from the constraints of a normal job, but it requires constantly learning and failing and trying different things until something works. But the real money, is in taking what’s working to the next level, so my very first piece of advice is to start with something you enjoy, or something you already know a lot about, otherwise you’ll be tempted to bail before it gets good.

hus·tler

A side hustle, by definition is not a full time job. As a professional side hustler, the goal is to make one or more side hustles a full time income. Some of you might be wondering why not just get a full time job, and the answer is freedom. Specifically financial freedom.

The ironic thing is that many of us seek financial freedom because we want to have more control over our lives. We want to make life decisions without having to worry about financial consequences and for most people anything that jeapordizes their job, scares the crap out of them (as it should), because it’s their only source of income.

I firmly believe that the only way you can ever achieve financial freedom is by diversifying your income. I don’t know how many conversations I’ve had with my peers who say they don’t have the guts to do what I’m doing and be self employed because of the lack of job security

What’s crazy to me is that they have it backwards. Firstly, job security actually means income or financial security and secondly, I can’t think think of anything more financially secure than having multiple income streams or being in complete control of how and where the money is coming in.

In the last five years, I’ve had friends go through the incredibly difficult process of realizing that job security is a myth, firsthand. Just because an employer has an HR department or calls themselves an employer doesn’t mean they can’t or won’t drop your ass when things go bad. Covid-19 was a prime example of that, in Canada, we were lucky enough that our federal government stepped in with relief payments or people would have literally gone hungry or homeless. And still, my friends went and got themselves new jobs with new employers.

I don’t want to go on a tangent, but all this to say, a professional hustler is a Jill-of-all-trades, resourceful person who is constantly putting their skills to the test. Someone who will find work as an administrative assistant, house sitter, proofreader, property manager, care aid, product tester, teacher and the list goes on and on.
