Looking for the cheapest way to setup an email with your custom domain? I have found the cheapest way to setup a basic email using a Zoho mail! Whether you want more professional branding or need a custom domain email for services like Mailerlite and Mailchimp, this guide will walk you through setting up your custom domain email affordably.
First you’ll need to own a domain name. If you don’t have one, I recommend using NameCheap unless you want to bundle a website, domain and email together, in which case I recommend Bluehost.

Step 1 – Create an account
Go to https://www.zoho.com/mail/login.html and sign in using google or another sign in partner and create a domain based email
Step 2 – Select a Plan and Subscribe
Pay yearly to save the most money and select the lowest amount of storage
Fill out your custom domain, organization name and industry type
Enter 1 user and pay for your subscription
Step – 3 Verify your Domain
Click on the waffle menu in the top right corner and select the Mail app.
Verify your domain by adding TXT records to your DNS account. I use Bluehost, but any domain provider will have a section where you can add DNS records.
Add the record according to Zoho’s instructions
Once you have verified your domain, you can choose your email address such as “kathy” @ website.com or “info” @ website.com
You can skip the user and group setup pages
Step 4 – Map DNS Records
You’ll need to add more DNS records to your domain to direct emails to Zoho’s server. Create the records according to Zoho’s list and verify the records. Its okay if all the records do not verify right away, you can still proceed with setup if your MX records are working.
You can skip through email migration and there you have it, a custom email domain for just $1.25 CAD per month!
